Nobel laureate hopes to restore calm and rebuild country after uprising that ended Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule

Bangladesh’s interim leader, Muhammad Yunus, has given an emotional speech to waiting reporters after he arrived back in the country to take up his position as head of a caretaker government.

The entrepreneur and Nobel laureate said he hoped to restore calm and rebuild Bangladesh after the uprising that ended the 15-year, increasingly autocratic rule of the former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
