Watch: CNN Admits Trump Team Shredded Michael Cohen’s Credibility
Anderson Cooper remark jurors watching exchange ‘would think this guy’s [Cohen’s] making this up as he’s going along…’
An attorney representing Donald Trump dismantled former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen on cross-examination Thursday, undermining the previous testimony and credibility of the prosecution’s key star witness in the former president’s New York City “hush money” trial.
The devastating takedown of Cohen by Trump lawyer Todd Blanche was so brutal, it prompted the likes of CNN’s Anderson Cooper to remark that jurors watching the exchange “would think this guy’s [Cohen’s] making this up as he’s going along or he’s making this particular story up.”
Anderson Cooper was left stunned by Trump's attorney's cross examination of Michael Cohen
"It was incredible…lawyers want to build a box around the witness & slam it shut–that's what Todd Blanche did to Cohen…it was an extraordinary cross…Cohen was cornered in…a lie" pic.twitter.com/WKnKCs8TkU

Likewise, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig agreed Cohen’s “knees” were “chopped out” by Blanche.
HEAR IT: "I don't think I've never seen a star cooperating witness get his knees chopped out quite as clearly and dramatically as what just happened with Michael Cohen," says CNN legal analyst. WATCH pic.twitter.com/2IV778YC1m

Elsewhere during cross-examination, Cohen, who was convicted of perjury in 2018, admitted to Trump’s legal team he’d been coerced to plead guilty to tax evasion charges and falsifying bank statements out of fear prosecutors would indict his wife.
President Trump commented on Day 18 proceedings Thursday:
Several GOP reps also attended the trial in support of President Trump Thursday:
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) remarked, “If I started a story with a convicted felon and a hooker walk into a bar you would immediately know it’s a joke. That’s what we have here. A joke of a trial.”
